So, Who Am I?
I am Nolan (he/him). I am an Industrial Designer. Relentlessly inquisitive, I meet challenges with an open mind. Playful enthusiasm and a lust for learning runs in my veins. I approach everything with an explorer’s mindset, and I use design as an empathic tool to craft better things.
I’m a do-er.
I am hands on by nature. I immerse myself in my craft. I learn by doing, listening, and observing experts ply their trade. I build self-maintaining aquariums and terrariums, manage my own apiary, and cultivate a wide variety of interests. I work on classic cars and ride mountain bikes. I practice photography and cooking to hone my eye and expand my senses. I value first-hand experiences and expanding my comfort zone. This makes me resourceful and capable, and design with practical intuition.
I’m a team player.
I believe that the best things happen collaboratively. That the highest performing teams are often multidisciplinary and diverse. I am a former rower and coach and know that an effective group can transcend the sum of its parts. I practice thoughtful and effective leadership, though I am equally comfortable integrating seamlessly into a squad. I am an active listener and an avid participant. I see my role in any organization is to support and uplift the whole.
I have fun.
I laugh often and balance my serious design quality with a relaxed and enthusiastic demeanor. I enjoy learning about people’s passions, and geeking out about their interests, shared or otherwise. I strive to learn more, see further and seek adventure in every form. I collect stories and relish retelling type 1, 2, & 3 fun.
